This morning, I was doing some research on L.A. Meyer, the author of the
Bloody Jack series (which is a new favorite), I learned that the author lives and has a gallery in Bar Harbor, Maine. Being the geographical wizard I am, I Google mapped the distance from Boston to Bar Harbor to see how long a ride it would be to drive up, walk into the studio and tell this guy I think his books are awesome. Turns out it's five hours, which is too long.
But that got me thinking, is there an author I would drive five hours to see?
I decided that for J.K. Rowling I would drive five hours, but it would have to be a personal meeting, like dinner or something, where I actually got to meet her and not just stand in a crowd of screaming fans.
Thoughts?
I would have to say Stephen King. I'd love to pick his brain about writing!
ReplyDeleteWell, getting a bit location specific rather than author specific, there are loads of authors I'd drove up to Bangor to visit! Granting I could have a chat over coffee with them and not just a drive by, that is. Of course, I know that area well since I have family up there, so I'd turn it into a weekend adventure rather than a 10 hour trip for coffee and chat time! But you could do that just about anywhere for someone who seemed interesting enough, no?
ReplyDelete- Meg (yup, the one you know :)
Oh, except you said Bar Harbor and not Bangor, which actually makes it much more appealing! You know Stephen King is up there, too, so you could always go for a two-fer... : )
ReplyDeleteSomehow, I imagine showing up and knocking on Stephen King's door might be met with less enthusiasm, but what do I know?
